The 2011 Lake County Wine Awards Competition
The annual comprehensive judging of high elevation wines
ANNOUNCING the 2011 Lake County Wine Awards Competition show-casing wines that specifically state Lake County or a Lake County AVA on the label.
Located on the elevated ridges and flanks of the Mayacamas Mountains to the west and the Vaca Range to the east, Lake County wines are revealing intense flavors and compelling quality. It is once again time to evaluate the evolution of style coming from this re-emerging wine region.
This competition will commence on July 28th at Brassfield Estate Winery where a panel of 13 wine experts will blind-taste and judge all wines submitted and select the top finalists in each category.
The esteemed panel of wine experts includes: Deborah Parker Wong, Mike & Martha Dunne, John Buechenstein, Shauna Rosenblum, Randy Caparoso, Clark Smith, Marc Hinton, Pamela Heiligenthal, Tina Caputo, Virginie Boone, Joe Roberts and Don Neel.
Ray Johnson, Director Sonoma State University’s Wine Business Institute,
Assistant Director of the San Francisco Chronicle Wine Competition, and
author of numerous articles and his blog TasteWine will preside as
Director for the professional judging.
All Lake County wines made in and outside the county using at least 75% Lake County grapes are encouraged to enter.
